Colombian Spanish - Bogotá's in particular - has a reputation among learners as the clearest and most neutral in the Americas, which makes Colombia one of the most-filtered-for countries by Spanish students. Colombians are also, by a comfortable margin, among the most patient partners for a learner who is still slow.

People here tend to end up talking about music and dancing, football, helping people with Spanish and travel - not because anyone plans it, but because those are the subjects a stranger can pick up without context. If you want to steer somewhere else, just ask a question; on a voice call it is far easier to change the subject than it is in text.

The best time to find someone in Colombia
