Kenya has one of Africa's most developed mobile internet cultures - people have been doing everything from a phone here for longer than most of the world - so a browser chat with nothing to install fits naturally. Swahili is the shared language of East Africa, so Kenyan matches connect easily into Tanzania and Uganda.

People here tend to end up talking about football, music, business and tech and politics, energetically - not because anyone plans it, but because those are the subjects a stranger can pick up without context.
