Where to start

Four honest entry points depending on what is actually stopping you.

You do not know what to say

Openers that work on someone who did not expect to be talking to you - and how to leave without it being awkward.

You are not sure it is safe

What to share, what never to share, the scam patterns that turn up on every chat platform, and what report and block actually do.

You want to practise a language

How to run an exchange that both people get something out of, and why speaking beats every app.

It is heavier than boredom

Phone anxiety, 3am, and an honest look at what a conversation with a stranger does and does not fix.

You want the technical version

How peer-to-peer audio works, what "anonymous" means precisely, and what data exists.

You want to browse

Countries, cities and languages each have their own directory with local detail.

How to use this hub

Read one thing, then go and use it. That order matters more than it sounds.

Pick the group that matches your blocker

Not the one that looks most interesting. The one describing the reason you have not started.

Read one article

One is enough. Reading five is a way of not making the call.

Make a short call

Five minutes. The first one is the only genuinely hard one.

Come back for the specifics

The safety and language material makes far more sense once you have had a couple of conversations.

Frequently asked questions

Which guide should I read first?

If you have never done this: the conversation-starter guide. If you are hesitant about safety: the safety tips. If you are here to practise a language: the English speaking guide, which applies to any language. One is enough before your first call.

Are these guides free?

Yes, all of them, with no email wall and no account. So is the app they are about.

Do I need to read anything before I start?

No. The only genuinely worth-reading-first item is the safety guide, and even that is mostly one rule: share nothing that identifies where you live, work or bank.

How often is this updated?

New articles are added as they are written and existing ones are revised when something changes - the RSS feed on the blog index carries updates.

Reading about it is not the same as doing it

One tap, one stranger, five minutes. That is the whole exercise.
