Greece keeps Mediterranean hours - the peak is close to midnight - and Greek is spoken by few enough people that Greek-to-Greek matches feel disproportionately like running into a neighbour. That makes the diaspora, particularly in Australia, the US and Germany, a big part of Greek-language traffic.

People here tend to end up talking about football and basketball, food, travel and politics, loudly and warmly - not because anyone plans it, but because those are the subjects a stranger can pick up without context. If you want to steer somewhere else, just ask a question; on a voice call it is far easier to change the subject than it is in text.

The best time to find someone in Greece

Greece runs on UTC+2 / UTC+3 (EET/EEST), and its users are most active around 10pm – 2am EET. If you are matching from another continent, that window is what to aim for - outside it you will still connect, just to a smaller pool and often to Greeks living abroad rather than at home.

That last point is worth knowing: the Greek community outside Greece is large, so filtering to Greece finds people in the country while simply speaking Greek finds them everywhere.
