Browser-based is the right call

ChatHub gets one important thing right: it runs in a browser. No app-store account, no install, no bundle of permissions you have to grant a company you have never heard of. Anything that adds friction between "I want to talk to someone" and actually talking to someone is working against the entire point of random chat.

TalkLive takes the same position and goes further: the only permission ever requested is the microphone, and only at the moment you press Tap to Talk.

Voice and text, not video

TalkLive runs two modes. Tap to Talk searches for a live voice call; Tap to Chat searches for a text conversation - useful when you cannot speak aloud. Core matching is free, while wait time and availability depend on the live queue.

What is missing is video, on purpose. The gap between "random text chat" and "random video chat" is not a small step up in intimacy - it is a completely different risk profile. Voice sits in the middle and, for most people most of the time, is the sweet spot: warm enough to feel like a real human, private enough that you are not thinking about your background.

Matching that actually matches

TalkLive searches a global queue by default, which can improve the chance of finding a match across time zones. It cannot guarantee that a compatible participant is available at every hour.

Optional country and interest filters narrow the draw without emptying it: if no filtered match appears quickly, you are connected to an available stranger rather than left waiting. That trade-off is deliberate. A filter that leaves you staring at a spinner is worse than no filter at all.
