The in-app currency problem
Mobile random-chat apps tend to converge on the same model: a virtual currency you buy, which you then spend on the things you actually wanted - matching with a particular region, seeing who liked you, skipping a limit. No install, no store account
Because TalkLive is a web app, there is no download, no app-store account, no OS-level permission bundle and no icon on your home screen for anyone to notice. You open a URL. If you want it to feel like an app, add it to your home screen - it is installable as a PWA - but that is your choice, not a precondition.
This also means it works identically on a five-year-old Android phone, a locked-down work laptop and an iPad. The audio-only design keeps it usable on connections where a video app would stall.
Good for language practice specifically
A lot of Azar's draw is cross-border conversation, and language learners are a large share of that. Voice is arguably better for this than video: without a camera, the self-consciousness that stops learners from speaking drops sharply, and the entire bandwidth of the call goes to listening and talking.
