Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 2, 2026
TalkLive ("we," "us") is a live, random voice-chat service that pairs you with strangers around the world for audio conversations. This policy explains exactly what we collect, what we deliberately do not collect, how everything is used, and what rights you have. If you don't agree with it, please don't use the service.
1. What We Collect
- Account information (optional): TalkLive works without an account. If you create one, we store your username, a nickname shown to others, and a salted hash of your password (never the password itself). If you sign in with Google, we store your Google account identifier, your verified email's username portion, and your display name to create and recognize your account.
- Chat metadata: when and how long calls happen, who was paired with whom (as anonymous client identifiers), skip/report events, and friend-message delivery data. We keep this to run the service and to enforce our rules.
- Approximate location (country/city) for matching: we look up your IP address to estimate your country and city. This is used to show your country flag to your match, to power country-based matching filters, and to display the "connecting to someone in …" preview. We do not collect precise (GPS) location.
- Device & session information: IP address, browser type, connection timestamps, error logs, and a random client identifier stored in your browser so your settings, friends, and blocks survive reloads. Your preferences (theme, sound, vibration, avatar choice, filters) are stored locally in your browser.
- Friend, blocking, and report data: your friends list, pending friend requests, chat messages exchanged with friends (kept temporarily while the server is running), the list of users you have blocked or reported, and reports made about you.
2. What We Do NOT Collect or Store
- Call audio is never stored. Your voice is streamed peer-to-peer (WebRTC) directly between you and your match. It does not pass through and is not recorded, analyzed, or stored on our servers.
- No video. TalkLive is audio-only; we never access your camera.
- Stranger chat messages (the text chat during a random call) are relayed live and are not stored after your session ends.
- No payment data, no precise location, no contact lists, no advertising identifiers. We do not sell personal data to anyone.
3. How Matching Data Is Used
Your country, stated gender (if you choose to provide one), match preferences, and interest tags are used for one purpose: pairing you with a compatible stranger. If no compatible match is found within about ten seconds, your filters are temporarily dropped and you are matched with any available person. Your gender is never displayed to the person you are matched with. Matching data is held in server memory only and disappears when you disconnect.
4. Friend List & Blocking Data
Friend relationships, friend requests, notifications, and friend-to-friend chat history are stored on the server (currently in memory, cleared on server restart), keyed to your anonymous client identifier. Blocks are permanent for the life of the server process: a blocked pair is never matched again. If you hide your online status, it is hidden only from your added friends; it never changes the site-wide online counter.
5. Moderation & No Link Sharing
- No links, ever. Chat messages containing URLs of any kind are automatically blocked, in both stranger chat and friend chat, with no exceptions. This protects users from scams, phishing, and malicious sites.
- Reports. Tapping Report immediately ends the call and permanently prevents that person from being matched with you again. Repeated reports lead to automatic bans. Report counts are retained to enforce this.
- Calls are not monitored or listened to in real time — moderation is driven by user reports and automated rules (like the link filter), not by recording your conversations.
6. Data Retention
- Call audio: never retained (never collected).
- Stranger chat & matching data: discarded when the call or session ends.
- Accounts, friends, friend chats, blocks, reports: currently held in server memory and cleared whenever the server restarts. If we move to persistent storage, data will be kept only as long as your account exists or as needed to enforce bans and legal obligations.
- Local data (client ID, preferences, avatar, consent) stays in your browser until you clear it.
7. Your Rights — Delete Your Account & Data
You can, at any time and regardless of where you live:
- Request a copy of the data we hold about you.
- Request correction or deletion of your account and all associated data (friends, messages, reports linked to your identifier).
- Clear your local data instantly by clearing your browser storage for this site.
- Object to or restrict any processing you believe is improper.
To exercise any of these, contact us at the address in Section 10. We will verify the request and respond within the timeframe required by applicable law (e.g. GDPR, CCPA).
8. Age Requirement
TalkLive is strictly for users 18 and older. We do not knowingly allow minors to use the service; any account or identifier found to belong to a minor will be removed along with its data.
9. Security & Changes
Audio is encrypted in transit by WebRTC (DTLS-SRTP), and passwords are stored only as salted hashes. No online service can guarantee absolute security, but we collect so little that the exposure is minimal by design. We may update this policy; material changes will appear here with a new date, and continued use after a change means you accept it.
10. Contact for Privacy Requests
For any privacy question, data access, or deletion request, email privacy@talklive.site or info@talklive.site. Please include the username or approximate dates of use so we can locate your data.
